Oakhurst Legal Group Client Olympic Boxer Shohrat Kurbanov granted O-1A Visa

The Oakhurst Legal Group is proud to include Olympic Boxer Shohrat Kurbanov as one of its clients who has successfully obtained an O-1A visa. As a national champion and a national coach of boxing in Turkmenistan, Mr. Kurbanov is clearly an alien with extraordinary abilities in boxing, particularly as a coach. 

Shohrat Kurbanov, an exceptional boxer and boxing coach 

Mr. Shohrat Kurbanov, a member of the National Boxing Team of Turkmenistan, participated in two editions of the Olympic Games representing Turkmenistan in the Light Heavyweight category in Boxing. The first time Mr. Kurbanov represented his country was when he qualified for the Olympic Games in 1996 after becoming the National Champion of Boxing in Turkmenistan. Subsequently, in 2004, Mr. Kurbanov qualified for participation in the Olympic Games after winning the silver medal at the AIBA Asian Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Pakistan. 

Being a renowned expert in professional boxing and building world class boxers, Shohrat Kurbanov has been selected as the coach of the national boxing team of Turkmenistan. As the National Coach of the Boxing Team of Turkmenistan, Mr. Kurbanov has been a judge of the capabilities of athletes. His role as a coach in a National Team is extremely critical as he prepares and coaches boxers for the best of international competitions.

Who is eligible for the O-1A visa? 

The O-1A visa, a nonimmigrant visa, is for individuals who possess extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics, or who has a demonstrated record of extraordinary achievement in the motion picture or television industry and has been recognized nationally or internationally for those achievements. 

What is extraordinary ability? Extraordinary ability in the fields of science, education, business or athletics, just like in the case of Mr. Kurbanov, means a level of expertise indicating that you are one of the small percentage who have arisen to the very top of the field.
